Almqvist inspiring artworks – Hilding Linnqvist and Carl Jonas Love Almqvist
April 30–October 16 2016
Hilding Linnqvist is perhaps best known for his early naïve way of painting where the artwork Drottningens juvelsmycke (1919), interprets the writer Carl Jonas Love Almqvist’s novel with the same name, is one of the most prominent paintings. Throughout his life Linnqvist was inspired by authors like Selma Lagerlöf, Johan Stagnelius and Gustaf Fröding. But most of all, he was inspired by Carl Jonas Love Almqvist, whose life and work fits in well with the promising naïvism that Hilding Linnqvist during his youth was exploring.
The exhibition displays works from the collection related to Carl Jonas Love Almqvist and is presented in collaboration with the Almqvist Society.
