Artist talk with Fikret Atay

Marabouparken Konsthall invites you to an artist presentation by Fikret Atay. Fikret Atay practice draws from his life in Batman, a town in the Kurdish region of Turkey, close to the Iraqi border. Often working in moving image, Atay attempts to highlights the complexities and tensions found in his locality and how they connect to larger socio-political narratives.
In the exhibition Mouth Shut, Loud Shouts Fikret Atay presents the video Rebels of the Dance, in which two young boys sing and dance a censored festive Kurdish song.
Fikret Atay’s work has been shown in many International museums and art centres, including Centre Pompidou in Paris; Castello di Rivoli in Torino; MAXXI in Rome; Istanbul Modern in Istanbul and Tate Modern in London.
