Bee Shed – Book presentation and workshop

For some time now, there have been two “bee sheds” in the Marabou park. A bee shed is a small shed that resembles a wood shed and serves as a home for solitary bees. Just like a wood shed, a shed is filled with stacked logs, but in a bee shed, logs have holes drilled in them for solitary bees to build nests.

The bee sheds in Marabouparken were built by the artist Erik Sjödin, who has now also made a handbook on how to build and maintain a bee shed. On May 20 at 1 p.m., Erik Sjödin presents the book and talks about the beehives in the park. The presentation is followed by a workshop where children and adults can build small homes for solitary bees to take home.

Erik Sjödin focuses his art and research projects on interdependencies and relationships between beings, things, and phenomena including studying human relationships to fire, cultivating and cooking aquatic plants, research on relationships between bees and humans, and engagements with social and ecological cultivation initiatives.
