Film Screening at Zita Folkets Bio

In connection to the exhibitions Mierle Laderman Ukeles: Maintenance Art Works 1969–1980 and From Her House there is a collaborative public programme between Marabouparken and Konsthall C. To launch the From Her House film programme we start with an event in collaboration with Film i Samtidskonsten, FIS, at Zita Folkets Bio. The first screening is co-curated by Marina Vishmidt from the Cinenova Working Group and brings together a series of artist’s films and videos examining the home and the politics of domestic labour. Marina Vishmidt and artist Emma Hedditch from the Cinenova Working Group will provide an introduction to the screening.

Cinenova is a UK based non-profit organisation dedicated to distributing films and videos made by women. Formed in 1991 from the merger of two feminist distributors, Circles and Cinema of Women, Cinenova provides the means to discover and watch experimental films, narrative feature films, artist’s films and videos, documentary and educational videos. Marina Vishmidt is part of the Cinenova Working Group which creates the conditions to distribute these works nationally and internationally.

Film i Samtidskonsten (FiS) is an organisation for video art and art films supported by the Swedish Arts Council. The program is run in collaboration with cinemas, festivals and art institutions around Stockholm.
