The Monster Club’s abstract landscape painting – art summer camp

Warmly welcome to participate in the Monster Club’s art workshop! For three days, participants will explore nature and landscapes through an experimental, abstract landscape painting! The days will be filled with a multitude of different techniques, styles, materials and ways of thinking that abstract painters throughout history have (or have not) used. Participants can try zooming in on small details in nature in a painterly way, such as the surface of a stone in close-up or the reflections of a puddle, investigate how the changes in light affect a place at different times, portray the movement of birds with quick brushstrokes and walk and paint a landscape at the same time… Can nature itself create landscape painting if the canvas is left outside overnight or buried in the ground? Come and explore the limits of painting where nature is used as inspiration, motif and material!

Life is life: an art workshop for the young

Are you between 14-18 years old? You are warmly welcome to participate in an experimental workshop about the possibilities of art to interpret, remix and maybe even change the world around us! Together with the artist and filmmaker Hannah Wiker Wikström, we will investigate the relevance of art to our lives and how our lives can take place in the artistic process. How have artists throughout history allowed their own lives to take place in art? What methods, materials and thoughts have been used?

Together we explore different artistic processes, techniques and ways of thinking, where you are given a lot of freedom to work on your own or joint project, or perhaps a material that you are stuck with. We can cast in concrete or spray with acrylic, dig into the earth or our past, map external landscapes or our inner spaces, explore series as self-portraits or let our lives collide in a collective painting.

Dates: 26, 27, 28 June

The Monster Club’s performing arts collection – about longing and missing

What does it mean to long for something or someone? Is there someone you miss? What is the difference between longing and missing and is it possible to make playful art out of something serious? These are some of the questions that we will explore during the inspection, with the goal of creating a performing arts show. Together we write scripts, create choreography, make our own costumes and experiment with sound and light. Choreographer and artist Hugo Hedberg guides the group in how to transform thoughts, feelings and ideas into a colorful and fast-paced show with extra everything and nothing!
