GUIDED TOURS
Marabouparken’s sculpture collection – from classicism to cubism
Marabou Park’s sculpture collection consists of 16 sculptures by Swedish and foreign artists executed between 480 BC and 1973. In the park, classical Greek sculpture coexists with abstract sculpture and sculptures executed in widely different artistic styles such as naturalism, concretism and cubism. A display focusing on the sculptures in the park where students get an overview of different artistic styles and learn more about the artists behind the works but also hear about the myths and stories behind the sculptures.
Target group: grades 0–9 and gymnasiet
Length: 45–60 min
History of Marabouparken – a vision of “The Good Society”
What was it like to work in a chocolate factory back in the day and why was a sculpture park built next to the factory? A display focusing on Marabou’s corporate history where students learn more about the social ideas about the good society and about democracy, public education, integration and self-sufficiency that were the basis for the creation of the park.
Target group: grades 4–9 and gymnasiet
Length: 45–60 min
Preschool tour
We look at the sculptures in the park and hear about the myths and stories behind the various sculptures. Is it important that what you sculpt looks exactly like it does in reality? We talk about different ways of sculpting and go on a journey of discovery among different kinds of styles. Once upon a time there was a crèche, an early form of preschool, in the park. The pavilion that housed this is still there and just like the children of that time, we also try to climb some of the sculptures and play hide and seek in the park.
Target group: preschool
Length: 45–60 min
WORKSHOPS
Art and life: my life as art
Can art help us better understand ourselves? Can events in my life become a work of art?
Together we do a close reading of selected parts of the current exhibition to find out what significance art can have for our own lives. We then enter the art lab to investigate different materials and methods in an experimental attempt to blur the line between art and life.
Target group: grades 4–9 and gymnasiet
Length: 120 min
Nature dreams
What is nature really? And what happens when it doesn’t do what we want? We investigate our own thoughts and dreams about nature in an experimental exploration of different materials and techniques. The creative content may change on different occasions and in relation to age groups and exhibitions.
Target group: Preschool and grades F-6
Length: 60 min
