In conjunction with the exhibition Ian Hamilton Finlay at Marabouparken konsthall, we invite you to an evening of immersion in the Scottish poet, artist and gardener Ian Hamilton Finlay’s undoubtedly greatest work – the poetry garden Little Sparta.
In 1966, Finlay and his then wife moved to the farm Stonypath outside Edinburgh and began work on transforming it into the poetry garden Little Sparta. A work that continued until Finlay’s death in 2006.
Program:
Erik Törnkvist, architect and curator of the exhibition Ian Hamilton Finlay, presents the poetry garden Little Sparta and its history.
Short break
Filip Lindberg, Poet and editor of the magazine Tydningen, talks about Finlay’s long-standing conflict with the local authorities, commonly known as The Little Spartan War.
After the presentations there will be time for questions and discussions.
The presentations will be given in Swedish and the program will last approximately one hour. The Ian Hamilton Finlay exhibition will be open until the event begins.
Welcome!
