Éva Mag – berättelser utan början
[stories without a beginning]
This fall, Marabouparken konsthall is pleased to present a solo exhibition by the artist Éva Mag.
Mag works primarily with sculpture, installation, and performance, using clay, wax, metal, and textiles as recurring materials. The body is central to her artistic practice—both as a sculptural form and as a tool of her trade. She is interested in the connection between a person’s inner life and the forces to which they are exposed: how external stresses, adaptation, and resistance leave both physical and psychological traces.
In the art gallery’s main hall, Mag creates an installation that takes up the entire space. The surface is transformed into a landscape of welded metal and fired and unfired clay, where uprooted trees, vessels, and thorny branches spread out across the room. The landscape oscillates between decay and survival, exploring the vitality of the materials. They bear traces of the turbulent times we live in and of humanity’s persistent attempts to find balance, stay upright, and carry on.
