Marabouparken konsthall is pleased to present an exhibition by the artist Madeleine Åstrand. Her practice includes works in various techniques and materials, but her main interest lies in painting, and this is also where the exhibition focuses.
Madeleine Åstrand’s mainly abstract motifs find their inspiration in different areas of knowledge – scientific processes, geometry, poetry, philosophy, and psychology – which she seeks connections between and aims to unite in her art. Her images often seek out border experiences, the uncertain field between what can be clearly stated and what remains hidden, what is the reality of everyday life and what we can only sometimes sense. Her art approaches that which eludes definition, but which is nevertheless a tangible and perhaps decisive part of our experiences. At the same time, she is interested in challenging the forms and language of painting.
Madeleine Åstrand was born in 1982. She lives and works in Sundbyberg. She graduated from the Malmö Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 and has exhibited at Eldhunden – Swedish Artists Association and Candyland in Stockholm.

The exhibition is an initiative that was created as a start to Marabouparken konsthall’s participation in Sundbyberg’s 100th anniversary celebration in 2027. Through an Open Call for professional artists in Sundbyberg, we take the opportunity to draw attention to the local community. Madeleine Åstrand is this year’s Open Call artist.
